Online retail giant Amazon to charge sales tax in Louisiana

Online retailer giant Amazon will begin charging sales tax Jan. 1 on sales in Louisiana, the company announced Monday morning.

An Amazon spokesperson told WDSU in a brief statement that "Amazon will begin collecting sales tax in Louisiana on January 1, 2017," adding to the growing list of states in which orders placed on amazon.com will include a sales tax.
