Local lenders featured in American Banker cover story

The cover story of the August edition of American Banker magazine, "How Bank M&A is reshaping the Southeast," features several local banks that are well-positioned to purchase others in the region.
The article features Mississippi-based Hancock Holding Co., which bought New Orleans-based Whitney Holding Corp. last year, and now operates all Whitney Bank locations in Louisiana and Texas.
It also features Lafayette-based IberiaBank Corp., which has bought several functional banks in recent years, as well as several failed banks from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Daryl Byrd, Iberia's chief executive, appears on the cover of the magazine.
MidSouth Bank Corp., also based in Lafayette, has been buying bank properties in Louisiana and Texas and is also included in the article.
