Nov 6, 2015
We're currently looking for someone to join our bookkeeping team. If you know someone who may be interested, please read on and ask them to call us at (504) 443-3557 to set up an interview--especially if that someone is you!!
E-mail your resume to larrysincometax@live.com, and write "Job Applicant" in the subject. You can also fax it to 504-443-3558.
***AS LONG AS THIS NOTICE IS POSTED, WE ARE ACTIVELY SEARCHING FOR AN EMPLOYEE(S). WE WILL TAKE THE NOTICE DOWN ONCE THE POSITION(S) HAS BEEN FILLED. CALL (504) 443-3557 TO SET UP YOUR TEST/INTERVIEW. PLEASE READ JOB DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS BELOW:
We're Hiring!!!
Must be proficient in PT, QB, MS Office and Sales Tax Manager. We use these programs about 90% of the time. Other desirable technical skills are the 10-key calculator and fast and accurate typing skills for the data entry aspect of the job.
You should know how to calculate and prepare sales taxes; all payroll-related tax forms (SUTA, FUTA, LA WH, 941,944, etc); and be able to calculate and prepare payroll from scratch. This is especially important since we need you to "hit the ground running." You will not be hired without these skills. You should know what to do and how forms should look once they're prepared--not just know how to type numbers in a box.
We're looking for a versatile, responsible, self-motivated, courteous; punctual, quick, accurate, and independent person. If you stop, think about it, and you conclude, "Hey, I'm all that [and a bag of chips!]," why not call and set up your appointment?
Although we are a small office, we are constantly interacting with coworkers, clients, and government employees in person, telephone, and through written and electronic mail. You must know how to properly address clients, proof-read your correspondence, and check your own work before submitting it. All clients will be referred to as "Mr" or "Ms"--no matter who they, or you, are.
Must be experienced. This is not a trainee position. We may not need Warren Buffetts or Dave Ramseys working here, but we insist that any prospective employee be familiar with at least 90% of what we do around here. As alluded to above, this is a professional position dealing with business and personal transactions that are time-sensitive as well as private in nature. Our clients are used to receiving quality, professional, and timely services, and unfortunately, we do not have the time to invest on a "rookie" at this time.
The test we give you will show us whether you actually know what you say you know.
We offer:
(1) at least 6 paid holidays throughout the year,
(2) one week paid vacation after being here one year,
(3) a retirement plan with employer match after 2 years,
(4) a casual, safe, and [relatively] fun work environment, (5) two, 15-minute paid breaks every day, and
(6) pay between $10-$14/hr DOE($22K-$29K).
Intangibles:
(1) no traffic headaches--we're located in Kenner,
(2) stress-free working environment (does not mean you slack off, though),
(3) small business with coworkers and clientele who are second to none;
(4) there's little overtime--a few times between January and April (you can have a life during "tax season"),
(5) you will be treated with respect, and finally,
(6) you don’t have to worry about getting laid off—we’re hiring you to keep you around, not to fire you later!!
How does all the above come together?
Well, a typical day will go something like this: Come in at 8:30am, check e-mails or faxes for clients faxing in their times for payroll. Prepare payrolls and submit for review. Enter client's bank statements, checks and invoices into accounting program. Reconcile checking accounts, calculate sales tax returns and 941 deposit amounts using spreadsheets. Adjust journal entries, generate and print financial statements. Reply to e-mails from clients (they got a letter, there's an insurance audit coming up, etc.).
Lunch, repeat during the PM, finalize the bookkeeping packet and submit for review. Go home at 5pm and enjoy your evening. That's it. Nothing to it.
Your "versatility" will come in handy as you help us roll out our marketing campaigns (fold and stuff letters!), provide janitorial services (relax--just dust and vacuum your own office roughly once a week!); tabulate, sort, and categorize client tax data (total receipts by category on adding machine!); work as a company public relations liaison(answer the phone by the 3rd ring), etc. You get the picture...unless you're a rock---you've got versatility.
Please be honest with yourself:
*If you'd rather work outside, and can't understand how a person can work in the comfort of their own air-conditioned office, then you'll be miserable as you daydream about being out in the hot and humid Louisiana weather!
**If you are psychologically attached to facebook, pinterest, reddit, and twitter and you have an undeniable urge to chronicle every minute of your life through instagram, then this job definitely isn’t for you.
***If you think you'll be able to "coast" and no one will notice, or that you'll learn how to prepare sales taxes, payroll forms, etc. "as you go along," please remember that we're not looking for trainees. You must have experience in what we do here.
The new hire will prefer to work in a quiet, relaxed atmosphere; will be mature, responsible, punctual, and self-motivated; will already know how to use the software and to prepare the forms named above; and will be looking to stay and grow with us for the long-term.
We want to keep providing our clients with the best possible service. The kind of service they deserve and are used to receiving from our team. You can help ensure that everyone keeps receiving that positive experience by mentioning this opening to a truly qualified person--especially if that person is you.
Ready to join our team? If so, call and come in to complete your application and test. You can e-mail us your resume at larrysincometax@live.com, or fax it to 504-443-3558
Good luck on your job search. We hope our position is the one that is right for you!
